I am delighted to have one of my articles “A Transformative Dinner Discussion” published on “Around the Table” today!
“It started just before dinner. As our three teenaged sons began to line up at the kitchen counter to serve their food, they began to argue about who was going first.
My husband, becoming impatient with their bickering, waded into their argument by raising his voice and issuing directives. The boys did not respond well to his interference. The argument suddenly exploded in momentum and volume.
Unable to stand it any longer, I exclaimed, “That’s enough! Everyone sit down!”

Thanks for your comments Kate! As an educator and clinical counsellor I always treasure the occasions where teaching moments just happen and seem to fall into one’s lap. They are the best moments for us to open up the discussions that can challenge us, helping us to grow and be transformed.

Awesome post! I have four boys and know all about bickering, friendly and otherwise at the dinner table; ) I love how this turned out, and your role in it! Helping our kids (and spouses 😉 be able to look at ourselves and our actions and say I am sorry is huge!
